Burnley boss Sean Dyche believes the goals will come despite his side being held to their third 0-0 draw in a row by Sunderland

The Clarets have not found the net since Scott Arfield gave his side the lead against title favourites Chelsea in their opening game defeat.

In the absence of last season’s talisman Danny Ings, Marvin Sordell and Lukas Jutkiewicz toiled to break down a solid Sunderland backline, but Dyche refused to be too disheartened.

"I thought the lads were terrific today,” Dyche told Sky Sports.

If we keep creating chances like that then the goals will come.

"We played well and made plenty of opportunities.

"

Sometimes you just need one to go in, whether it was Ashley Barnes’ deflected shot, or just a bit of quality."

There were several contentious refereeing decisions which the home fans voiced their concerns over, and Dyche agreed on another day his side may have been awarded a penalty.

"It was a bit frustrating to be honest," Dyche added.

"The foul on Jutkiewicz in the box would have been given if it was anywhere else on the pitch.

"So in that sense, we just didn't get the rub of the green."
